What’s up with training?
Tobin completed his T-6 training last week with his final formation flight. Currently, he is studying up for T-1 ground school; that means new boldface (memorized emergency procedures), new systems, new procedures.
T-1 ground school starts this Wednesday (10/7) if his schedule doesn’t change. Ground school is two weeks long, then he heads directly flight side and has eight or nine flights (both instruments and vnavs).
So in about a month, he will be done with Intermediate and will be in (A?)-pool waiting to class up for Advanced.
There’s your training update!
I will try to post later today about our amazing weekend. We went on couples retreat with a bunch of people from our life group at Hillcrest. It was very worth it and so rewarding. I highly recommend going on one someday. It was a very needed break for Tobin and I as well, since work and training have been so stressful lately. Ok, I’ll try to post soon about that.
Wow – we have a multilingual family! Betsey speaks Spanish, and Erin speaks Air Force!
We are proud of Tobin, whether I understand half of what you just said or not!
Also, the couples’ retreat sounds WONDERFUL! Someday I’ll convince Luke to take me on one of those!
Love you two!

Good job, Tobin! Dad & I went on a couples’ retreat once or twice (not sure of the count). It was a great time. We also used to go on Pastors’ & Wives’ Retreats. That was always a nice break from day to day stress. Anxious to hear more and maybe understand a word or two. Love you guys!

Wow! I didn’t realize I was speaking in jargon…that must have been frustrating to read. Lemme try to clear things up a little.
The T-1 was the airplane he was flying up until now. Now, he is going to fly the T-6 (a jet airplane).
Ground school is where he learns all the parts of the plane, the procedures for when emergencies happen, and all the instruments of the aircraft (plus lots more I’m sure, that’s all I really know about).
Instruments is when he flies using instruments, vnavs is when he flies using visual navigation (find a barn, a power plant, a road, a river, etc).
I think that’s all I mentioned. Sorry to be unclear!

Thanks for clarifying! I’m sorry if I offended you – I really didn’t mean to. I am pretty clueless about all the military jargon, so it’s helpful when you give explanations. (Otherwise I’ll just nod and smile, hehe.) I really am proud of you two!

Not offended at all! I just had no idea I was being confusing. Thanks for the heads up!
