from our hearts to yours, a thousand miles away

What’s up, guys?

Haven’t updated in a bit.  Funny, considering I have lots more time now…I bet there’s a theory about that somewhere.  Betsey, Dad?  (you two know the most random facts, generally)

Guess what?  Tobin and I got DATES!  Here’s the list:

  • Water survival, parachute training, and SERE (survive, evade, resist, escape) school in Washington state: September 20th-October 16th
  • Training starts in Shreveport, Louisiana (Barksdale AFB) for B-52′s: April 1st
  • Original report date for Shreveport: November 17th

We are putting in a request to push back the report date!  That is kinda on top of my due date, and I don’t feel like moving when I could go into labor at any second.  No thanks.  So, if all goes well, we will be moving to LA in late February, which will give us time to get a schedule going with the baby and adjust to our new lives a bit.

I will put up a post SOON with pictures of our new truck.  Tobin & I are one-car people for the first time, traded in the Tahoe & the Yaris to purchase a used Toyota Tundra.  We thought it would be a good move since I currently don’t have a job, and so far it has been working out well (I think it’s been about 3 weeks).  I swear, pictures to come!  It’s raining & I don’t have the car to take pictures of right now.  :)

    Erin,

People always say that if you need something done, ask a busy person. I believe some theory of momentum would correspond to that, which should be your area of expertize. :) But I do know this: I have cleaned more, worked out more, and done a better job of staying in contact with my long-distance friends and relatives now that the school year has started as compared to what I did over the summer when I had nothing going on.

Is SERE part of Tobin’s military training, or is it a parenting class you’re taking? ;)

I stinking love the kid in my class who reminds me of Tobin. Seriously. Every day he says or does something that reminds me of Tobin. Makes me feel like I’m closer to you guys!

    love you,
    Buzz

  2. Haha, I can see how you thought SERE might be a parenting class. Oh Buzz, lol.

    Betsey sure is funny!

Thanks for sharing. We wrote the dates down so we can pray specifically.

    Where’s the baby bump picture?

So glad you guys finally have some dates to work with! It’s so hard being stuck in the land in-between.

I totally agree with Betsey. Busy people have this way of getting it all done and more. I’m way more productive at work when I have 5-6 projects going at the same time then when I only have 1 or 2. In one of my training classes they drew a graph that represents the productivity/stress relationship. Productivity is a straight line going up and to the right (positive slope), and stress is a straight going down and to the right. Where’s these two lines intersect it when you are most productive. You need to have a healthy amount of stress (“busyness”) to get the most done. There’s your wrinkle for the day!

    love you guys!

    Erin,

You are actually far more likely to have a reduced stress level because you are a dog owner. (there you go, random fact) According to a doctor from Mayo Clinic, dog owners on average live 3 years longer than those who don’t own dogs. They can help lower your blood pressure as one result of reduced stress. Also, if you do have a heart attack, you are more likely to survive it if you are a dog owner.

See?? No worries! Stress won’t getcha.

    love,
    Betsey

It may be true that dog owners live three years longer, but they spend the extra time picking up poop.
